Lennox mini-split installation in Miami typically runs $4,130 to $8,850 depending on capacity, number of zones, and how much electrical or line-set work the job requires. We stock Lennox-compatible indoor air handlers, outdoor condensers, line sets, and mounting hardware on our trucks, so most single-zone swaps can be scheduled within a few days, not weeks. Owners usually discover something failed because the unit quit cooling, started dripping water down the wall, or the outdoor condenser began making a grinding noise that carries across the yard at night.
If you’re holding a dead remote pointed at a unit that won’t respond, or you’ve found water staining on drywall beneath the indoor head, you’re in the right place. This page covers what fails on Lennox mini-splits in South Florida specifically, what it costs to replace, and whether you should touch it yourself.
Which Lennox Models This Applies To
We work on the full Lennox mini-split line: the MLA and MPA series single-zone units, the MMB multi-zone outdoor condensers, and the MLB heat pump models that handle both cooling and heating. These units range from 9,000 BTU units meant for a single bedroom or home office up to 48,000 BTU multi-zone systems covering three or four rooms. The indoor heads come in wall-mount, ceiling-cassette, and floor-mount configurations, and each has its own mounting plate and line-set routing.
Here’s a gotcha most homeowners don’t know: Lennox mini-splits use flare fittings on the refrigerant line connections, and those flares are factory-made to very tight tolerances. If a handyman re-flares a line with a cheap flaring tool, the fitting will leak refrigerant slowly for months before it finally loses enough charge to stop cooling. We cut, ream, and re-flare with tools that hold Lennox’s original flare angle. That matters in Miami, where a small refrigerant leak means moisture gets pulled into the system through the same leak point, corroding the inside of the line set within a year.
On parts: we install OEM Lennox components when the warranty still applies or when the part is electrical (control boards, motors, sensors). For things like line sets, condensate pumps, and mounting hardware, we carry quality aftermarket equivalents with the same spec ratings. If your unit is still under Lennox’s 5-year compressor and parts warranty, we honor that. Dalton Heating & Air Miami is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Lennox, but we’re factory-trained on their equipment and run warranty claims for our customers regularly. We also stock parts for Carrier and Trane systems, along with six other major brands.

Signs Your Lennox Mini-Split Installation Is Failing
- Weak airflow from the indoor head. The blower wheel inside the head collects mold and dust on the leading edge of each blade. In Miami’s humidity, that buildup happens fast, and airflow drops by half before you notice it. The fix is removing and deep-cleaning the wheel or replacing it if the plastic is cracked.
- Water dripping from the bottom of the indoor unit. The condensate drain line clogs with algae and slime, or the small condensate pump (on units that pump uphill) stops cycling. If the drip pan is cracked, water ends up inside your wall, and that’s when drywall damage starts.
- Outdoor unit runs but no cold air inside. Either the refrigerant charge is low from a slow flare leak, or the reversing valve has stuck in heating mode. A stuck reversing valve is a part failure, not a charge issue, and replacing it means recovering the refrigerant, brazing in a new valve, and pulling a vacuum before recharging.
- Unit short-cycles, turning on and off every few minutes. The thermistor sensor in the indoor head has drifted out of spec, or the outdoor unit’s compressor overload is tripping. Short-cycling in a Florida summer kills compressors faster than anything else we see.
- Grinding or squealing from the outdoor condenser. The fan motor bearings are shot, or something has gotten into the condenser coil area and the fan blade is hitting it. That noise always gets worse, never better.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Lennox mini-split installation or major component replacement in Miami, here’s what you can expect:
| Job | Typical Cost Range |
|---|---|
| Single-zone mini-split full install (12k – 18k BTU) | $4,130 – $5,600 |
| Multi-zone mini-split install (2 – 3 heads) | $6,200 – $8,850 |
| Indoor air handler replacement (parts + labor) | $1,800 – $3,200 |
| Outdoor condenser replacement (parts + labor) | $2,400 – $4,100 |
| Line set replacement with re-flare | $850 – $1,700 |
| Condensate pump or drain line replacement | $275 – $550 |
Every quote includes the equipment, mounting hardware, refrigerant, electrical connections, and the labor to do the job by the book. The price you get in writing before we start is the price you pay. No add-ons, no “discovery fees” at the end of the day. Every installation carries a written one-year guarantee: if something we installed fails in that window, we come back at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
What drives the range? Line-set length and routing is the biggest variable in Miami homes from Kendall to Coral Gables to Aventura. A compressor mounted on a roof or ran lines through a finished ceiling cost more than a straight exterior wall mount. Second is electrical: if you need a new dedicated circuit and disconnect box, that’s additional work with its own parts cost. We’ll tell you exactly which factors apply to your house before you sign anything.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can safely do three things yourself: clean or replace the washable filter in the indoor head, clear minor debris away from the outdoor condenser, and check that the breaker hasn’t tripped. That’s it. Everything past that involves either pressurized refrigerant with factory-spec flare fittings or 220-volt electrical connections inside the disconnect box. Both of those can cause real injury or property damage if you get it wrong.
We’ve gone behind handymen who “topped off” refrigerant without finding the leak, because topping off is not a repair. The leak is still there. In Miami’s salt air, a leak left open for a season corrodes the compressor terminals and turns a $300 flare job into a $2,400 condenser replacement. Marco Benitez says it plainly: tell me what it’s doing, I’ll tell you what it costs – in writing, before I touch it. Call (850) 754-6042 and we’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician who carries the parts your Lennox needs on the truck.
FAQs
Expect 10 to 14 years of service in Miami’s coastal environment, with salt air and year-round humidity shaving 2 to 4 years off the lifespan compared to drier climates. The indoor head usually fails before the outdoor condenser because of moisture and biological buildup on the blower wheel and coil. Call (850) 754-6042 if your unit is over 10 years old and making noise or short-cycling.
Yes, and about 70% of the Lennox mini-split calls we run in Miami end in a repair rather than a full replacement. Blower motors, thermistors, capacitors, drain pumps, and flare leaks are all repairable parts. The math on replace-versus-repair changes when the compressor itself fails or the system is over 10 years old, at which point a new unit with a fresh warranty usually makes more sense.
A single-zone Lennox mini-split installation takes 4 to 6 hours from arrival to final test, including vacuum pump time and electrical wiring. Multi-zone systems with two or three indoor heads run a full day, sometimes two if the line sets need to route through finished space. We’ll give you a set install window and show up inside it.
Our Miami trucks carry common Lennox replacement parts: blower wheels, fan motors, thermistors, control boards, capacitors, contactors, drain pumps, and flare fittings. More specialized components like specific reversing valves or inverter boards may require a parts run or a next-day order, and we’ll tell you that upfront before anyone turns a wrench.
Yes. We offer financing options on full system installations, and our team handles the paperwork at the time of the estimate so you aren’t waiting on a loan decision after the crew shows up. Most Miami homeowners qualify on the spot. Call for current terms and rates.
